[Dialogue] The U.S. Wars and Emerging International Solidarity
The Quarterly Changbi 212, Summer 2026
This dialogue was conducted with the theme “The U.S. Wars and Emerging International Solidarity,” prompted by the recent U.S. invasion of Venezuela and its war with Iran, which have recently rocked the international order.
Moderated by Lee Nam ju, editor-in-chief of Quarterly Changbi, participants Moon Hee Joung, Lee Hae-young, and Jeong Hyungon—who have consistently spoken out on the domestic and international political scene and changes in the global order—incisively examined the reality of U.S. foreign policy and analyzed the currents of the new international order from multiple angles.
With the decline of U.S. hegemony and the trend toward multipolarity, they explore the possibility of a “transformative centrist international solidarity” to counter the maneuverings of far right political actors. At the same time, they realistically discuss the transfer of South Korean wartime operational control from the U.S. to South Korea and the prospects for progress in a North–South Korean confederation.
