1960년 서울 출생. 연세대학 철학과를 졸업하고, 프랑스 빠리4대학에서 철학박사 학위 취득. 현재 서울대학 철학과 교수. 저서로 『해체론 시대의 철학』『예술가를 위한 형이상학』『풍자와 해탈 혹은 사랑과 죽음: 김수영론』『니체, 프로이트, 맑스 이후』, 편저로 『라깡의 재탄생』, 주요 논문으로 「데까르트의 "형이상학"」「해체론 시대의 인문주의」 등이 있음.

Born in 1960, Kim Sang-hwan studied philosophy at Yonsei University (BA and MA) and the University IV Paris-Sorbonne (Ph D). Formerly a professor at Yonsei University, he is currently a professor at Seoul National University. He has authored: Philosophy in an Age of Deconstructionism, Metaphysics for Artists, Satire and Humor, or Love and Death: A Treatise on Gim Su-yeong, After Nietzsche, Freud, and Marx: The Contentions of Modern French Philosophy, "Descartes' 'Metaphysics'," and "Humanism in an Age of Deconstructionism"; and edited The Rebirth of Lacan.
