A Body That Is Both an Ending and a Beginning

In the literary criticism section, critic Yang Yun-eui offers an in depth examination of the body, as both the most private and most social site of experience, through readings of Eun Heekyung’s novel Texture of Time and Kim Kitae’s novella “Regression.” The essay traces how bodies undergoing decline, that is, the processes of aging and illness, encounter other bodies, care for one another, and can ultimately arrive at love. It illuminates the warm possibilities of solidarity that emerge from these embodied connections.
