[Dialogue] The 20th National Assembly and Tasks for Korean Politics / Lee Nam Ju, Lee Chul-hee, Chae Yi Bai

The Quarterly Changbi 187, Spring 2020

Abstract

Ahead of the upcoming general election in April, “Dialogue” evaluates the 20th National Assembly and examines the tasks for Korean politics. The 20th Assembly, which has the dishonor of the lowest ratio of bills handled, also had the historic achievement of passing reform bills through the so-called 4+1 coalition. National Assembly members Lee Chul-hee and Chae Yi Bai candidly examine the achievements and failures of this 20th assembly, with Changbi’s deputy chief editor Lee Nam Ju moderating. Further, they explore the possibility of collaborative governance, which will continue to be important even after the general election. Since they know well the comings and goings of the Assembly, their contributions are vivid—and vital.
