[On the Scene] Not Tame Rabbits, But Tigers: On the Political Participation of Women in Their 20s / Kim Eunji

The Quarterly Changbi 196, Summer 2022

Abstract

During the recent president election, a “divide and rule” strategy was ruthlessly adopted along gender lines in the political arena, where the younger generation was represented only by young men, and anti-feminism was mobilized as a political tactic. Resisting this political trend, by pointing out that the protagonists who made the last presidential election the tightest race in recent Korean history were women, Kim Eunji examines our reality, where gender has emerged as an undeniable wedge issue in politics. Kim’s article vividly conveys a will to political participation of women in their 20s, who try to become tigers actively driving changes in reality rather than tame rabbits as fixed supporters of a particular political party or politician.
