Abstract

How much influence did journalism have on the 20th presidential election in March? Scholar of journalism Lee Bong-soo analyzes the current state of media reporting on the 20th presidential election, based on his understanding that the uneven playing field created by an ideologically biased media had a direct influence on the Democratic Party’s presidential election defeat. In our reality, where conservative media have greater influence on the public opinion than even terrestrial television and radio, and where interests more than truth have become standards for reporting, his voice arguing for the necessity of media reform is valuable and persuasive.
