1918∼1951.충북 충주 출생. 1937년 일본 와세다 대학 정경학과에 입학. 1939년 ‘독서회 사건’으로 1년간 감옥 생활을 함.
귀국하여 폐결핵 요양을 하던 중 1951년 병세가 악화되어 34세의 나이로 타계함.
1948년 동요집 『감자꽃』(글벗집)을 냄. 1995년 권태응이 남긴 작품들을 엮은 동시집 『감자꽃』(창작과비평사)이 간행됨.

Born in Chungju, Kwon Tae-eung (1918-1951) entered the School of Political Science and Economics at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan but was imprisoned for a year by the Japanese authorities for his involvement in the secret, anti-colonial Readers’ Association. After his release, he returned to Korea to treat tuberculosis but eventually died of the illness. His poems and songs for children such as “The Tomato Tree,” “The Mountain Fountain,” and “Sightseeing in Seoul,” which depict simple daily scenes, were collected and republished as the present volume in 1948.
