1972년 서울에서 태어났다. 2004년 샘터문학상에 「행복한 비누」가 당선되고 2005년 월간 『어린이동산』 동화 공모에 중편 「꽃신」이 최우수상을 받으며 작품 활동을 시작했다. 2007년 『명혜』로 제11회 창비 좋은 어린이책 원고 공모 창작 부문에서 대상을 받았다. 『꽃신』 『나불나불 말주머니』 『선영이, 그리고 인철이의 경우』 『남사당 조막이』 등을 냈다.

Born in 1972 in Seoul, Kim So-yeon made her literary debut with the selection of her children’s short story “The Happy Soap” in the Samtoh Literary Award in 2004. The winner of the Grand Prize in the children’s novella competition sponsored by the monthly Children’s Garden in 2005 for her novella “Flower Shoes,” she is an avid fan of paintings and old tales and strives to write entertaining children’s stories.
