Martha Heesen (b. 1948) is a translator and author of books for young readers. The characters in her stories are often imaginative ‘thinkers’ with problems relating to other people. Heesen has received a great deal of praise for her literary children’s books. She won the Silver Slate Pencil on a number of occasions and in 2004 she won the Golden Owl for Toen Faas niet thuiskwam. With Maandag heeft vleugels and now Wolf Heesen demonstrates that she a also write accessible books for a younger audience.
