Abstract
Yoo Hui-sok interprets the recent novel by Kim Soom and short stories by Lee In-hui as the literary mourning for the 1987 System. The comprehensive reading, including all the major works by the two authors, as well as most critical responses upon them, enhances the logical and persuasive power of the essay. On top of that, he traces the attempts to restore the tragedies of our times in the novel by Kim Soom, and then he analyzes Lee In-hui's stories, including "Kang Isan, The Poet", with great deliberation.
