[Articles] The Structure and Solution of the Military Crisis on the Korean Peninsula / Lee Seung-hwan
The Quarterly Changbi 174, Winter 2016
Abstract
Lee Seung-hwan claims in his persuasive article that such policies as "Pivot to Asia" of the US, and "The Great War for Reunification" of North Korea, and more recently, the deployment of THAAD in South Korea are aggravating the military crisis on the Korean Peninsula. So the only remaining solution, he argues, lies in returning to the table for a peace agreement, which has been broken until now. His suggestions will help us cope actively with the changing international circumstances after the US presidential election, as well as continuingly deepening rift between South and North Korea. Active follow-up discussions are required, considering the present grave political situation after the signing of the General Security of Military Information Agreement (GSOMIA) with Japan.
