창작과비평

1958년 부산 출생. 충남대 철학과 졸업.1986년 『여성동아』 장편 공모에 『저 석양빛』이 당선되어 작품활동 시작. 역사적 전망과 환경 문제, 지난 연대의 고통스러운 기억, 좌표를 잃고 방황하는 현대인의 자화상 등을 밀도 있게 그려냈다. 소설집 『지붕과 하늘』(1989), 『개들의 시절』(1991) 『사십세』(창작과비평사 1996) 『플라스틱 섹스』(창작과비평사 1998)과 장편소설 『바다로부터의 긴 이별』(1991), 『소설 갑신정변』(『저 석양빛』 개제, 1991), 『산 위에서 겨울을 나다』(1992), 『사랑에 대한 열두 개의 물음』(1993), 『음모와 사랑』(1994) 『그 남자의 아들, 청년 우장춘』(창비 2006) 등이 있음.

Born in 1958 in Busan, Lee Nam-hui studied philosophy (BA) at Chungnam National University. She made her literary debut with the selection of her novel That Glow of the Setting Sun in a competition held in 1986 by the monthly Women’s Dong-A. Since then, Lee has produced works that depict historical vision, environmental problems, painful memory of the social solidarity of the past, and the rudderless disorientation of the moderns in a tightly packed style. She has penned: short story collections At Forty (published by Changbi), Plastic Sex (published by Changbi), The Roof and the Sky, and The Age of Dogs; and novels A Prolonged Parting from the Sea, The Coup of 1884: A Novel, Spending the Winter on the Mountain, Twelve Questions about Love, and Conspiracy and Love.
