1967년 서울 출생. 서울예대 문예창작과 졸업. 1996년 서울신문 신춘문예에 단편「풀」이 당선되어 작품활동 시작. 1999년 단편 「곰팡이꽃」으로 제30회 동인문학상, 2000년 단편 「기쁘다 구주 오셨네」로 제33회 한국일보문학상, 「강의 백일몽」으로 이수문학상(2004)을 수상. 소설집 『루빈의 술잔』 『옆집 여자』 『눈물의 이중주』(공저) 『푸른수염의 첫번째 아내』 『웨하스』 『여름의 맛』, 장편소설 『식사의 즐거움』 『삿뽀로 여인숙』 『내 영화의 주인공』 『A』 등이 있음.

Ha Songnan is a writer who presents a new trend in contemporary Korean novels. With elaborate and well-controlled sentences, she splendidly portrays the quotidian city lives and loneliness of modern people. Since making her debut, Ha Songnan has gained the attention of the literary community for her precise and hard-boiled descriptions of the routine of urban living, which go beyond the context of traditional narrative. Her way of observing and recording the micro world have earned her a reputation as a writer with original linguistic sensibilities among the young writers who launched their careers in the late 1990s. Ha won the 30th Dong-in Literature Prize.
