창작과비평

1957년에 수원에서 태어났고 한국외국어대학교 네덜란드어과를 졸업했습니다. 1983년 『우리 세대의 문학』에 단편 「배리」를 발표하며 등단했습니다. 그동안 장편소설 『국경』(전7권), 『청년일기』 『국경』 『천재토끼 차상문』, 소설집 『일과 밥과 자유』 『천하무적』 『세상의 어떤 아침』 『산을 내려가는 법』, 장편동화 『떠돌이 꽃의 여행』등을 펴냈습니다. 현재 민족문학작가회의 국제위원회 위원장으로 활동하고 있습니다. 여행을 좋아하는데, 특히 문명의 오지라고 할 만한 실크로드, 티베트, 히말라야 등지를 두루 여행했습니다. 아시아 문학을 소개하는 일에도 관심이 많습니다.

Born in 1957 in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, Kim Nam-il studied Dutch (BA) at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Since his literary debut in 1983 with the publication of his short story “Bari” in the journal The Literature of Our Generation, he has penned the novel The Border (7 vols.), short story collection A Certain Morning of the World, and children’s fiction Bye-bye, Alley (published by Changbi) and A Wandering Flower’s Travels. Currently the Chairman of the International Committee within the Association of Writers for National Literature, he has traveled extensively to less trodden places of the world including the Silk Road, Tibet, and the Himalayas and is very much interested in introducing the literatures other Asian countries to Korea.
